Best Summer Associate Event Contest (2016): The Winner!

Congratulations to this worthy winner, which demolished the competition just like it trounces opposing counsel in the courtroom.

Smaller summer programs tend to have fewer and less lavish events, but what they lack in glitz they frequently make up for in terms of more substantive work and a greater ability to get to know the full-time lawyers.

And sometimes there is no trade-off between size and sizzle. This year was the first of Quinn Emanuel’s scaled-back summer program, but even with its sails trimmed, QE still blew away the competition in our summer associate event contest:

Which firm put on the best summer associate event of 2016?

  • Quinn Emanuel - Iceland Trip (46%, 881 Votes)
  • Freshfields - Hamilton (24%, 452 Votes)
  • Kirkland and Ellis - New Orleans Trip (16%, 313 Votes)
  • Stoel Rives - Portland Trip (12%, 224 Votes)
  • Finn Dixon - Trampoline Dodgeball (2%, 31 Votes)
  • Richards Layton - Billy Joel Concert (1%, 22 Votes)

Total Voters: 1,923

Quinn took its small group of summers to Iceland as part of the annual firm hike (which all QE lawyers are invited to join). And this resulted in Quinn taking about half the votes in our contest — not as huge a win as last year, when the firm hike took place in Italy, but still a decisive victory. And as the smart and tough litigators at Quinn Emanuel well know, a win is a win.

As a proud New Yorker and a devotee of musical theater, I cast my own ballot for Freshfields, which treated its summers to Hamilton (orchestra seats, no less). But I respect the will of the people, and I’m satisfied with this outcome. Congratulations to Quinn Emanuel on winning our content for best summer associate event for the second year in a row!
