Deposition Reveals Donald Trump's Less Than Truthful Side

This deposition is worth a read -- both for it's political value and for the practice pointers.

Trump FlagA very clear and visible side effect of my lawyers’ questioning of Trump is that he [was revealed as] a routine and habitual fabulist.

Timothy L. O’Brien, reporter and author of “Trump Nation: The Art of Being the Donald,” whom Donald Trump sued over claims in the book that Trump’s net worth was significantly smaller than the $5 billion he boasted. Over the course of a two-day deposition in 2007, members of O’Brien’s legal team — which included Mary Jo White and Andrew Ceresney — revealed a series of lies, misstatements, and untruths told by Trump. At one point, Trump blamed some of his less than truthful statements on Meredith McIver, the sacrificial lamb who took the fall for Melania Trump’s RNC plagiarism. The Washington Post’s piece detailing the best lawyering moments from the deposition is well worth a read, both for it’s political value and for the practice pointers. Trump’s suit against O’Brien was dismissed in 2009.
