Which law schools will give you the competitive edge to make your dreams of a career in M&A come true?

ranking prize ribbon rankSo, your big-time lawyer dream is to be a partner at a law firm in the high-flying field of mergers & acquisitions? That sounds all well and good, but which law schools will give you the competitive edge to make your dreams come true?

Deal Point Data has developed a ranking that answers that very question. They’ve compiled a list of the top ten law schools for M&A, and their methodology is as follows:

The ranking is based on transactions announced from January 1, 2008 to July 30, 2016 for publicly traded targets involving U.S. listed firms. To be included in the ranking, each attorney must have been a partner who was disclosed in the merger agreement.

So without further ado, let’s get into the thing you really care about — the rankings:

1. Harvard Law School
2. New York University School of Law
3. Columbia Law School
4. Yale Law School
5. Georgetown University Law Center
6. University of Chicago Law School
7. University of Pennsylvania Law School
8. George Washington University School of Law
9. Fordham University School of Law
10. University of Michigan Law School

The results are not too surprising. These schools all have notable alums like Harvard’s Faiza J. Saeed (Cravath, Swaine & Moore), NYU’s David A. Katz (Wachtell Lipton), and Columbia’s Philip Richter of (Fried, Frank).

Congratulations to all the schools on the list!
