Can somebody explain to me how Andrew Puzder, Donald Trump’s pick of Labor Secretary, is a thing? Like, how is this man under serious consideration for Labor Secretary? Will Republicans really just confirm anybody Trump offers up? If Trump nominated, me, to HNIC would Mitch McConnell just warble his chin pouch and vote yes? Are there no limits?

You can object to all of Trump’s picks on pretty much the same grounds: probably racist, openly sexists, unqualified for the position/qualified only to destroy the department they run. The objections are so similar that they almost run together an lose meaning. THAT IS TRUMP’S PLAN of course. They’re all terrible, so no one of them stands out.

But Andrew Puzder has basically been put on this Earth to troll the Bernie Bros who thought Trump and Sanders shared an economic message.

Puzder — CEO of CKE Restaurants (Hardee’s, Carl’s Jr.) objectifies women to sell hamburgers. Which kind of isn’t a problem if you are a hamburger salesmen but is a problem if you are going to speak for a labor force that is full of women. Andrew Puzder’s ex-wife accused him of abusing her, and sought the help of Oprah Winfrey. Andrew Puzder opposes minimum wage, favors robots, and called his workforce “the best of the worst.” Which is ironic given that his food can be described as “the worst of the leftovers at the soup kitchen.”

I could go on (check out Puzder on abortion). But today, workers have filed 33 complaints against CKE Restaurants. From Think Progress:

Their suits include four allegations of sexual harassment, which were filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; 22 complaints of wage and hour violations, which were filed with state departments of labor; and seven unfair labor practices charges, filed with the National Labor Relations Board. They were filed across ten states, including Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.

There are tons of Republicans who believe in low wages and employer rights who haven’t had their company sued 33 times in one day. So I ask again, how is Andrew Puzder still a thing? How can Republicans allow this guy to happen? Why fight this battle when there are so many other things they want to fight for?

I guess the only upside is that Trump’s stupid, sexist base is getting a labor secretary who wants to bring fast food jobs back to America, and then give those jobs to robots. As usual, the ultimate joke is on them.
