Trump Nominates Law School Dean To Labor Secretary
Trump moves fast with new Labor nominee.
For an administration that celebrates incompetence and Russian toadies for its top picks, the surprise announcement of Trump’s new Secretary of Labor pick demonstrates a shocking level of ability.
Moments ago, we learned that Donald Trump will announce R. Alexander Acosta, current dean of the Florida International University College of Law, as his pick to take the reins at the Labor Department.
Let’s just say this is a tremendous step up from a burger salesman.
The Business Case For AI At Your Law Firm
Acosta, for the unfamiliar, is a former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida and a former Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights. The double Harvard Acosta also served as a clerk to Justice Alito when Alito sat on the Third Circuit, where Acosta let down the judge by failing to understand sports. That’s fine, it’s not like there’s any major labor issues brewing in college or professional sports….
He also would be the first Hispanic cabinet member in this administration, joining Ben Carson and Elaine Chao on “Team Diversity” for Trump.
Congratulations to Dean Acosta.
UPDATE (3:30 p.m.): He’ll surely be missed at FIU Law. Under Dean Acosta’s leadership, FIU placed first among Florida law schools in terms of bar exam passage, for the third time in a row.
