Preet Bharara Will Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

Bharara's cryptic social media post leaves people speculating.

Preet Bharara

Preet Bharara

By the way, now I know what the Moreland Commission must have felt like.

— Preet Bharara, the recently fired U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, in a tweet posted yesterday afternoon. You might recall the Moreland Commission was an independent commission charged with investigation ethics complaints in New York. After small ethics reforms were passed, Governor Andrew Cuomo dissolved the Commission, but Bharara continued the investigation. Bharara’s firing came as a surprise to many in the legal world, especially since in November, Donald Trump met with Bharara and asked him to stay in his position. The S.D.N.Y. shakeup comes, perhaps coincidentally, a few days after Bharara received a request from watchdog groups asking his office to look into possible Emoluments Clause violations by the President. You know, like the Moreland Commission was asked to look into New York State corruption before they got their walking papers. Just sayin’.
