Managing Maternity Leave As Managing Partner

There's a double standard when it comes to female lawyers having children -- and this managing partner knows it.

But when a man has children, the assumption is that he’s more serious about his career. Until we shake these underlying views and that bias, women are always going to be seen as less invested in their careers.

Kim Buffington, managing partner of Pillsbury’s Los Angeles office, commenting on the double standard that exists in the legal profession when it comes to childrearing and work/life balance. Buffington was asked to become her office’s managing partner while she was out on maternity leave last summer.
