It has been fascinating, frustrating, interesting, intense and one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. It’s maybe the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire life.

Kay Lorraine, 70, commenting on her experience as a student at the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law. Lorraine, who is about to graduate, admits that she threw up twice on the way to her first exam as a 1L. She hasn’t found a job yet, and although she would “love to be Perry Mason,” she knows it “takes a lot of time to build up a practice in criminal litigation, and right now [she’s] focused on passing the bar exam.”
