Litigation Finance Firm Offers Revolutionary Program For Women Lawyers With Families

This is a fantastic opportunity for women lawyers to remain in the workforce.

happy lawyer babyWhere do litigators go when they’re no longer interested in law firm life? In recent years, the hot new trend has been for lawyers to leave their firms to join the growing field of litigation finance. One leading group in the industry recently started a program for women lawyers that’s perhaps even more revolutionary than the field of litigation finance itself.

Fulbrook Capital Management, which has carved out a special niche for itself as an investment advisory firm of sorts within the dispute finance industry, announced its Virtual Women in Law program this week, one that it describes as both “dynamic and overdue.” For decades now, women have dropped out — or have been forced to drop out — of the legal profession due to its hostility towards family-friendly practices. Fulbrook’s new offering, however, will allow women lawyers to work from home, or anywhere they choose, with flexible hours through the use of the latest digital technologies available.

The Virtual Women in Law program will be incredibly helpful as it will grant women lawyers the opportunity to blend their professional and family lives while still giving them a chance to remain a part of the workforce as attorneys, whether it be on a part- or full-time basis.

According to Selvyn Seidel, a former Latham & Watkins partner who founded Fulbrook Capital Management in 2011 and now serves as its CEO, the Virtual Women in Law program is “designed to create an alternative distinguished career path for women lawyers, while tapping into an extraordinary pool of talent that otherwise might be unused, wasted, or spent on less than optimal terms.” Fulbrook hopes that its alternative employment solution will be viewed as a “distinct professional option” for women in the law.

If you’re a woman who’s interested in working as a virtual lawyer, Fulbrook currently has two positions open, with an emphasis in litigation and arbitration or finance, and is accepting applications. If you’d like more information, or if you’d like to apply, please contact Selvyn Seidel, by emailing him here.

Congratulations to Fulbrook Capital Management for recognizing that women belong in the workplace, virtually or otherwise, regardless of whether they have familial obligations to attend to in their lives. Hopefully programs like this will expand to other litigation finance firms, and law firms too, in the future. The technology is readily available — use it to keep women working as lawyers.
