Dems Would Run Pro-Life Candidates To Win, Will Wonder Why They Lose

Lawyers fight, Democrats beg.

Donald Trump’s inanity and incompetence get all the headlines, but make no mistake, the people running the Democratic Party are rank idiots who would abandon the rule of law in a heartbeat if it helped them “win.” Not only do Democrats seem to believe that Trump voters don’t know that they’re supporting a misogynist bigot (hint: Trump’s disrespect for others is a feature, not a bug), they also seem to believe that having actual principles is what “distracts” voters from the economic message of global capitalism that they believe unskilled workers are dying to hear.

The latest evidence of this total failure of a political party comes in the form of indicating a willingness to abandon a well-settled law should the right candidates be willing to run as a “Democrat.” From The Hill:

Democrats will not withhold financial support for candidates who oppose abortion rights, the chairman of the party’s campaign arm in the House said in an interview with The Hill.

Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) said there will be no litmus tests for candidates as Democrats seek to find a winning roster to regain the House majority in 2018.

“There is not a litmus test for Democratic candidates,” said Luján, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman. “As we look at candidates across the country, you need to make sure you have candidates that fit the district, that can win in these districts across America.”

That policy is going to sound “smart” to a certain kind of liberal who thinks that the problem is that liberals aren’t Republican enough. Instead of actually defending the position, you’ve got a lot of guys our here (they’re almost always men who espouse this particular brand of cowardice) who aim to, somehow, trick voters into thinking Democrats also “love guns, hate queers, and are squishy on women’s rights.”

I can hear those guys now: “Well Elie, you know some people are just single-issue voters on abortion and will never support a candidate who is pro-choice.” RIGHT. F**K THEM. They’re never going to vote for you anyway. Single-issue pro-life voters are not going to vote for the Democratic Party. END SCENE. Could we now move on to the fight for EVERYBODY ELSE please? I mean my God. Reasonable people can disagree about the progressive agenda, but “standing for things” is not the problem, IT IS THE SOLUTION.

And, as usual, the Democrats are fighting the abortion debate on the wrong verbal ground anyway. I swear if the Republicans started calling the Democrats the “Limp Dick Party,” Democrats would start off speeches with: “Me and my fellow limp dickers find the partisan insults troubling to average Americans who can’t get it up.”

The issue is not “pro-life” vs “pro-choice.” It need not be couched in those divisive terms, which barely mean anything anyway. The legal issue is simply “Do you think Roe v. Wade is good law?” If YES, then we’re done here. Maybe you would never have an abortion yourself, maybe you work tirelessly to give women options other than abortion, maybe you are an actual abortion doctor, I really don’t care. “Do you support the concept that your personal religious beliefs should not be applied to secular law?” That is the LITMUS TEST. And it’s an entirely defensible one.

According the June Federal Election Commission report, in addition to adding to their growing debt, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) fell behind the Republican National Committee (RNC) in monthly fundraising.

Adding on to their recent pattern of historically low fundraising efforts, the DNC raised $5.5 million in the month of June, almost $8 million less than the $13.5 million raised by the RNC.

It’s not that progressives aren’t giving money. The ACLU couldn’t be getting more money if it was humanity’s last best hope to fight off invasion from the Martians. But progressives are giving money to groups that STAND for something. They’re giving money to groups who employ lawyers to stop these Trump-led attacks on the rule of law.

When Trump’s agents come for you at JFK Airport, you’re not calling “the Democrats.” What the HELL are they going to do for you, other than cry? When the cops come to violate your rights, you’re not calling the Democrats. And if you did call, they’d have to get back to you after their Patrolman’s Benevolent Association fundraiser.

People are right to not give money to feckless organizations like the DNC. The ACLU, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a host of other organizations, these groups are out here fighting against the worst outcomes of white-male grievance politics. The DNC is looking to co-opt those grievances into a “Better Deal” (that’s what Dems are calling it, not the Onion) for those white males. You’re a progressive woman who needs to make a $100 “offset” for taking Uber everywhere, where’s that check going to go? NARAL? Or the “Committee To Elect [Insert White Guy Here]”

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to keep giving money to the lawyers. The lawyers are fundraising for their fights. The Democrats are out here panhandling for a fix.
