Former Law Dean Wants Court To Ban Everyone From Learning Why He's The Former Law Dean

What's in this report, eh?

Eric Dannenmaier is out as the dean of NIU Law, but he really doesn’t want the world to know why he’s out.

The former dean, who only helmed the school for a year, jumped ship after the school completed an investigation into allegations of a hostile work environment leveled by a pair of female temps (UPDATE 7/10/17: Despite earlier reporting from the Daily Chronicle, it’s our understanding now that these were not temps). Dannenmaier denies any wrongdoing, but didn’t want to remain a distraction for the school.

But whatever is in that report must be pretty bad, because Dannenmaier has asked for an injunction to block the report from ever seeing the light of day.

A Freedom of Information Act request by the Daily Chronicle seeking the report of the investigation was denied on Friday.

“A lawsuit has been filed against the University seeking an injunction to enjoin the University from disclosure of these records,” the response said. “The University is withholding production of materials pending the outcome of the above mentioned lawsuit.”

The school told the paper that they believe the results of the investigation should be released and will do so if Dannenmaier’s bid fails. So it seems there’s no love lost between the school and the former dean.
