Jeff Sessions Hasn't Learned The Lessons Of The 80s

Catch up, Mr. AG.

Buried amid news of Donald Trump Jr.’s decision to Tweet out incriminating evidence, there was substantive information revealed yesterday about the direction of the Trump administration. Speaking at a Drug Abuse Resistance Education training conference, Jeff Sessions revealed he was interested in bringing back to prominence the Drug Abuse Resistance Education otherwise known as the 80s answer to addiction issues, D.A.R.E.:

“D.A.R.E. is, I think, as I indicated, the best remembered anti-drug program today,” Sessions said. “In recent years, people have not paid much attention to that message, but they are ready to hear it again.”

“We know it worked before and we can make it work again,” the AG continued saying about the program, which was founded in Los Angeles in 1983.

The AG also said the Department of Justice will work with state and local authorities, while tapping D.A.R.E., to stop drug traffickers.

“We need you,” Sessions said. “We need D.A.R.E. to prevent them from finding new victims. We need your strong leadership to deny them new customers.”

Sure, we’ve been there, done that, and proven it’s an ineffective program, but I suppose the Attorney General simply didn’t get the memo. So, I’ll leave the video below (from the fantastic Adam Ruins Everything) so he can get up to speed on how bad an idea this is.
