Judge Could Be Disciplined For #MAGA Hat
How are you going to be impartial while doing deplorable cosplay?
Canadian Judge Bernd Zabel had to face a disciplinary committee hearing in Ontario because last year, the day after the American election, Zabel showed up to chambers wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
Let me just pause so #MAGAers can lose their s**t and post about jobs, the economy, and Aryan pride on Reddit.
All done? Okay. CLEARLY wearing a political slogan to court is inappropriate for any judge. It’s not even a close case. People go into court expecting impartiality. A MAGA hat might as well be a neon sandwich board saying “Muslims are bad people,” and “women aren’t even people.”

Zabel says what they always say: it was a joke. These Trump f**kers really think that “the lulz” is both an excuse and justification for EVERYTHING THEY RUIN OR DESTROY. “Why did you threaten to nuke Bangladesh?” Joke. “Why did you kick the metal leg out from under the amputee?” Funny. “Why did you lick the frozen telephone poll?” Everybody liked that tho. “Why did you kill that man in Reno?” Just to watch you die… from laughter!
Being a PSYCHOPATH isn’t funny. Only sick f**ks laugh when they see some Trumpster kid pulling the wings off a fly.
In any event, Zabel says: “I’m not a racist. I’m not a bigot. I’m not a misogynist.” He says that he doesn’t support Trump, but he wore the hat to “annoy” other judges because he correctly predicted Trump would win.
Canadian activist groups are pretty annoyed. From the New York Times:

In one letter, a group of feminist lawyers argued that rape victims would find it difficult to testify before a judge who “has so publicly celebrated the election of an admitted assailant.” The Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association said it was “deeply concerned with how Muslim women in particular would be addressed and treated in Justice Zabel’s courtroom.”
The Canadian Association of Black Lawyers said its members would fear that Justice Zabel would judge their skin color rather than the merits of their cases.
Supporting the American president tells the world that you support bigotry, sexual assault, and white supremacy. That’s what the “leader of the free world” stands for now. His iconography IS the iconography of hate.
The only people who think that is a good thing are the people who wear his stupid hat.
