The Perfect RBG-Inspired Accessory For These Trying Times

Love these.

I know you probably know this already, but when Ruth Bader Ginsburg is particularly peeved about a dissent she’s penned, she wears a particular jabot — the decorative lace collar worn with her robe — known as her “dissent jabot.” (She also wore this particular jabot after the election of Donald Trump to register her, ahem, dissent.) In this way, she combines her fashion choices (limited though they may be in the official garb of the justices) with her legal opinions for a powerful statement.

(The meaning behind the dissent jabot has provided inspiration for us here at Above the Law — we use it as the brand of our sub-blog that covers issues involving women and the law.)

We live in tumultuous times, as the reign of the 45th president has, in only a few short months, provided a bevy of scandals, policy changes, and geopolitical complications. Sometimes you just need the perfect accessory — one that makes a statement about your strong feelings about the state of the world, and makes a fashion statement.

If that sounds familiar, may we suggest this line of dissent pins and necklaces? At $15 each, they’re an affordable way to show your legal nerd side. Also, 50 percent of the profits go to three legal non-profit organizations: The Bronx Freedom Fund, The International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP), and The Center for Reproductive Rights. So you get a quick hit of the “feel goods” while making a fashionable choice.

Also, they are super cute.
