SEC Still Stalling On Case Against Former Dewey & LeBoeuf Execs

How hard will the SEC have to 'swallow' on this one?

This is one of the oldest cases on my docket… It’s time to get going. [The SEC has got] to swallow hard and decide.

— U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni, telling the Securities and Exchange Commission they need to decide whether to pursue their case against former Dewey & LeBoeuf executives Joel Sanders and Stephen DiCarmine for their roles in the Biglaw firm’s demise. The pair has already been tried — twice — on criminal charges related to Dewey’s swan song. Earlier this year, Sanders was convicted on those fraud charges and DiCarmine was acquitted. Judge Caproni gave the SEC under December 1 to make a decision on their case in order to facilitate potential settlements with Sanders and DiCarmine.
