Poll: Will Brett Kavanaugh Be The Next Supreme Court Justice

We're at the point where this is a serious question.

Before his hearings, Brett Kavanaugh was already the least popular Supreme Court nominee in history. The events that have transpired since have… not helped his cause. The argument that he lied in his Circuit nomination hearings is so thoroughly supported that only the true propagandists are still pitching alternative theories. He passes off his calling birth control as “abortion-inducing drugs” as “just summarizing the case” only makes sense if you’ve never tried to summarize a case before. What was the case about, “the Church didn’t want to pay for contraceptives on religious grounds” — see how that’s entirely accurate without throwing dog whistles to the crowd? He’s got… curious finances, seems incapable of rendering a decision that isn’t briefed by a right-wing amicus, and can’t explain his Garza decision as anything but a lazy attempt to get on the Supreme Court at the expense of a young woman’s fundamental rights. And this is before we get to the allegations of sexual assault and the breaking story that even his staunch defenders talk about his commitment to female clerks as shady.

At this point, Donald Trump is standing by his judge. But whether he sees the writing on the wall or Kavanaugh bows out to preserve the institution, we’ve reached the point where we can credibly bet on whether or not Kavanaugh is still the nominee by next Wednesday. And that’s before we even get into the increasingly real possibility that a handful of Republicans pull back from Kavanaugh in an effort to safeguard their own future electoral hopes.
