White SandalThis is a fun survey, primarily for our West Coast readers. White-shoe law firms are prestigious and traditional and, well, old. The term “white shoe” itself comes from the shriveled upper lips of old white men that are so wrinkled they look like shoe laces. Just kidding. People actually used to wear white shoes.

White-shoe firms are known for their association with banks and brokerage houses. They work hand-in-glove with the centers of East Coast finance. But enough about the past. We’re interested in who is working with our new financial titans of Silicon Valley. Which firms are servicing the tech startups, unicorns, and venture capitalists of the new economy? Who are our “white-sandal” law firms?
