See Also: Underneath The Storm
Ed. note: “See Also” is a new column we’ll be running in place of Non-Sequiturs. It’s going to be an evening, ATL Digest for people who missed some of our content earlier in the day.
SCHOOLS CLOSED: The University of Houston Law Center is obviously closed down as the city and state deal with Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath. We hope everybody will stay safe. We’ve heard that law students are using the time to help out other citizens.

FLORIDA ON THE MARCH: Florida is: (a) not flooded just at the moment, and (b) marching up the U.S. News law school rankings. They’re giving incoming students a lot of scholarship money to attract the kind of higher test scores U.S. News likes. Whether or not those higher test scores lead to better students, and whether those students are able to get better jobs, feels totally ancillary to the process of rising upin the law school rankings.

U.S. CONSTITUTION V. DONALD TRUMP: The ACLU is already suing Donald Trump over the transgender military ban he signed on Friday, under the cover of Hurricane Harvey. The ACLU has been busy. Everybody who defends the Constitution has been busy since Trump took over. This interview with the executive director of the Center for Constitutional Rights talks about the strategy of standing up to Trump and for the Constitution.

YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME: A lot of people will focus on the fact that this newlywed fabricated 100+ billable hours when she returned from her honeymoon. I focus on the fact that billable-hour requirements are stupid and almost beg for abuse, albeit abuse that is more subtle than what this woman did.
