Associates Sharing Offices
The firm I am currently employed with has informed us that first, second and third year associates will be sharing 12X12 offices. In a meeting we were basically told "like it or leave it" but were shorty there after reminded of the slumping economy's effect on top tier law firm associates job market. Is any other top tier firm pull this crap or it is just these soul sucking greedy slobs here?

you should have gone to cleary
name the firm
what shit firm has third years sharing offices?
I turned down an offer from Fried Frank when I found out that associates had to share offices.
The Hof places well at Fried Frank. I think HofsTTTra grads should be serving fried franks at hot dog stands, though.
as a virgin i welcome any chance to be stuck in a 12x12 room with a lady.
If the economy is as bad as it is, shouldn't there be empty offices everywhere for you to spread out? Unless the firm is downsizing its lease - now that's TTT.
It's Dewey LeBoeuf. I don't know why I was protecting their integrity since the only thing they care about since that B.S. merge is how long before we sell our souls and in return they can charge us closing fees for the sale.
i wonder if dewey is doing this at all their offices or just their NYC office. what are you going to do?
They are getting rid of one of their 3 NYC offices and combining space.
Third years sharing is bit out of the ordinary. Sharing offices as a 1st year is actually not that bad (as a rule), and is pretty much the way it goes in NYC. If you get a bad officemate, you can usually find a way out of it. At the firm I work for, 2nd years aren't sharing anymore (opened a new floor). I wouldn't make the single office thing a deal-breaker, unless all other things are equal.
I don't know what I am going to do. The office thing is just the tip of the iceberg. The morale here is really bad and the lack of common respect shown to us mid-level associates by some of the senior the partners in the tax and litigation groups has driven us to the point that most of us are starting to not care anymore, which makes coming to work everyday harder than it already is.

Isn't sharing an office better than being an unpaid summer associate at an insurance defense botique, though?
