(Development and Communications Focus)
The Gold Standard Foundation, a Swiss-based non-profit, distinguishes the highest quality carbon offset projects in the voluntary and compliance environmental markets. Gold Standard projects employ renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, they are rigorously screened for true environmental benefits, and they encourage local sustainable development.
The Gold Standard Foundation currently seeks a graduate student to primarily assist with development, communications and other business-related tasks.
Terms of Reference
Development
The intern will help to prepare and execute a fundraising strategy. Primary responsibilities shall include (1) identifying fundraising opportunities, such as private and public grants, (2) preparing a spreadsheet detailing the opportunity, its eligibility criteria and the application requirements and (3) preparing the first draft of each application.
Communications
The intern will assist with a variety of communications-related tasks, including but not limited to (1) assisting with the website, (2) reviewing and drafting press releases, (3) creating and assembling Powerpoint presentations and (4) creating and assembling communications materials for the team.
The schedule is flexible (30-40 hours a week preferred) and coordinated with the Director of US Markets.
Qualifications
Strong writing skills and experience with Powerpoint required. In addition, (1) experience with grant-writing or fundraising for a non-profit organization, and/or (2) experience with environment and sustainable development issues preferred.
