I can no more disown pornography than I can my racist white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.

We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.

You go into some of these law firms in New York, and like a lot of law firms, the jobs have been gone now for six months and nothing's replaced them. And it's not surprising then the associates get bitter, they cling to antipathy to high-flying, hard-charging corporate associates working throughout Asia as a way to explain their frustrations.

Lately there has been a little typical sort of political flare-up here at ATL, because I said something that everybody knows is true, which is that there are a whole bunch of lawyers in TTT law firms who are bitter. They are angry. They feel like they have been left behind. They feel like nobody is paying attention to what they're going through. So I said, well you know, when you're bitter you turn to what you can count on. So people, they get mad about staff/office clerks who want to get Professional Certificates in Peacebuilding and develop and introduce a new foreign policy that our federal government will someday adopt, or they get frustrated about how things are changing. That's a natural response.
