Once upon at time, ET too worked in private practice but could not stand the stench of the scut work, billable hours and the continual competition among the other drones for more scut work. Gov't Lawyer is a fake. ET works for the fed gov't and can testify that only a few crappy agencies hire sloths like Gov't Lawyer. Its possible that Gov't Lawyer has a cut 'n paste job at the SSA, but nothing more serious then that.

I would suggest to all deferred Big Law associates that they use this free money to gain real experience as attorneys to prepare for when their offers are invariably cancelled. T14 grads will be competing with legions of toileteers for the lowest level gutter work and will need every possible advantage.

Associates who accept the the fake brickbats thrown their way deserve their fate. “Performance based” reviews are nothing but frauds that will set up a basis to deny the laid off associate unemployment when their severance runs out.
