Eliza, that NORTHERN Cyprus, or the unrecognised "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus;" the southern part of the island is the Republic of Cyprus, part of the E.U. and not a place where property disputes of this ilk are commonplace.

ATL is not supposed to be Perez Hilton!! I want: more law firm news coverage, which firms are in the crapper and which are having a bumper year?; deal coverage, who is winning new clients, who is losing clients due to their insistence on raising rates in this economy?; lay off coverage; benefits coverage...

This is just TMI.

What happened to an intelligent legal community blog that kept us current on things that matters to *US* and our paychecks?

I hope now the legal press will get off their silly crush on the Magic Circle as the future of the legal profession with all their over-stretched offices and ridiculous lockstep. If the model was so superior, why would they be laying people off left and right?

Lol @ Linklaters, how many top American firms are publicly showing partners the door?

Latham just got too big too fast. Now that the economy has tanked, all the cracks in its shaky foundation will start to appear. I have a feeling it will go the way of FINLEY KUMBLE.

L&W was huge in junk bonds, it has been since the days of Drexel Lambert (dodged the bullet there), and now that that market has disappeared, what is it going to do? Partners with portable books are going to start to run.

is aaron charney impacted by these layoffs? he is fairly senior and would probably be expensive. but would laying him off generate legal liability? maybe he's well known among GLBT clients?

Thoughts?

This column is awful. All it does is summarize Legalweek. I can read that myself! If you don't have any inside information then don't bother. ATL has gone down in quality. I've been searching for a credible alternative for a while now.

At least give me some speculation on which UK firm Bryan Cave wants to merge with.
