Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated found themselves, in times of general macroeconomic uncertaintly, cast headlong into the cold and murky waters of the labor market after being torn from the nurturing bosom of what was once known, and may yet still be known, as "biglaw." In these waters, which the legal preparatory academy had not prepared the gentlemen to navigate, the gentlemen sometimes became acquainted with third parties who attempted to broker the placement of the gentlement into positions of employment that were not prestigious, but nonethless approximated the practice of law. Some of those gentlemen then elected to write about their experiences in turgid prose. These matters were not considered to be of material significance.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, which is, in fact, the selfsame institution described in this web log posting, encountered times when the legal preparatory found itself in economic distress, such that the legal preparatory academy was forced to discontinue the employment relationships between itself and certain of its employees, in particular those providing administrative and other support services. The gentlemen found it gauche that such a wealthy institution found itself in this position, were duly unimpressed, and hurled assorted calumnies and other related invective at the legal preparatory academy. To the assembled bystanders, it may have been considered amusing, but it was not of material significance or otherwise worthy of recordation.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, on certain occasions, found themselves to be employed by limited liability partnerships, the legal purpose of which was to engage in the practice of law, whereupon such partnerships elected to reduce the compensation paid to those of the gentlemen just entering upon the practice of law, so that the gentlemen might receive instruction from more experienced practioners, not only into substantive areas of the law and the practice thereof, but also into the nature of client relationships. Although this training caused financial strain to the aforementioned gentlemen in the short term, these actions were beneficial to the clients of the limited liability partnership undertaking the aforementioned training program, and the enterprise was considered to be rational, and perhaps even forward-thinking. The enterprise was, in fact, significant and worthy of further consideration and contemplation, despite whatever sneers of derision and other aspersions cast upon it.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, finding themselves in situations in which they lacked any contractual relationship pursuant to which they performed legal services in exchange for certain regular payments and other and sundry forms of consideration, were compelled to accept short-term offers to study and analyze digital images of certain documents and other tangible things pertaining to the subject matters of various matters of interest pertaining to certain disputes pending in certain courts of law and that were being prepared for exchange between the parties to the same pursuant to Civil Rule 34, or its state law equivalents. The gentlemen found themselves ensconced in untidy lodgings amid a pervasive gloom, which evoked in the gentlemen a sense of being chained below decks in the galleys, or other unseemly forms of servitude, for which the prior experience of the gentlemen in "biglaw", or indeed in their legal preparatory academy, had failed to prepare them. These things were viewed with awe and wonder by those who have not experienced them for themselves, but it was not, generally speaking, the type of momentous or otherwise propitious sort of event that is retained in the minds of the public at large.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated....no, wait. Who I am kidding? I've never seen anything like this. I got nothin'.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, during the course of their summer "employment," which in reality was an excuse for the exercise of various forms of debauchery by both the gentlemen themselves and the putative employers of the aforementioned gentlemen, with very little value attached to any services actually rendered, unless those services related to the aforementioned debauchery instead of legal services, frequently leased for themselves real property and appurtances thereto of a style and scope far beyond that needed to adequately sustain themselves through the summer months. The gentlemen found themselves in reduced financial circumstances after binding themselves to such leases, and sought sympathy for their plight, only to find that they were considered to be profligate spendthrifts, and were the targets of various calumnies, and scorn was heaped upon them. As the previously described scorn and calumnies were well-deserved, this was not considered to be of particular consequence or otherwise newsworthy to a broader audience.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with once I was once affiliated, upon entering into the practice of law, found themselves entangled in sexual relationships with the betrothed of others, which then disintegrated in a most public and unseemly fashion upon the discovery of the existence of the aforementioned relationships. The gentlemen were then excoriated for their tortious interference with familial relationships, then contracted loathsome diseases as a consequence of entering into the aforementioned relationships with strumpets and other assorted brazen sorts of hussies. While these events were indeed viewed with either amusement or bemusement by those becoming aware of the same, each according to their own preferences, they nonetheless not considered to be particularly extraordinary.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, in the course of their preparations for the practice of the profession of law, did on certain instances peruse the contents of certain web logs, such as the one found here. There they encountered a series of publications relating not to the aforementioned practice of law, but to certain meandering new-age pablum, the likes of which had no discernible relation to the law, the practice thereof, or any other subject matter of relevance to those who tend to visit this website. The gentlemen were perplexed, both at the inclusion of this insipid material and at the lack of editorial control exercised thereupon. These events were not considered to be of particular consequence, or otherwise worthy of recollection.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, during the course of their summer labors for certain legal entities, typically, but not always, limited liability partnerships, the purpose of which was to engage in the practice of law, were entreated to a variety of forms of entertainment, some of which delved into various forms of debauchery and others of which had the appearance of being cheap, tawdry, or otherwise sordid affairs. While the gentlemen enjoyed the entertainment provided, particularly where such entertainment could be construed as additional income to the gentlemen above and beyond the salaries paid to them for their (putative) labors of the summer, the entertainment described herein -- unless and until it devolved into some form of debauchery that would more universally appeal to the prurient nature of those assembled in review of the matter -- was not considered to be of particular significance or otherwise noteworthy in any material manner.

Legal Fraternity Lothario, his own self, also wishes to echo the sentiments conveyed by poster #6 and to congratulate The 80s Guy, who combines pithy analysis with a welcome restraint in use of his character. The same cannot necessarily said of other character denizens of this place, some of which may accurately be described as irrelevant, loathsome, or simply repugnant.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated found themselves, upon the completion of their studies, affiliated with certain entities of statutory creation, typically in the form of limited liability partnerships, the stated purpose of which was to practice law. The gentlemen were subjected to torment and abuse from those senior to them in the aforementioned limited liability partnerships, and certain of those gentlemen concluded that such torment abuse had utility. Rather than simply utter the phrase "thank you sir, may I have another," these deluded gentlemen took it upon themselves to create cliche-ridden paeans to those who heaped such scorn upon them. This was not considered noteworthy or otherwise of material significance.

Legal Fraternity Lothario, his own self, suggests that those who are subject to such treatment consider their alternatives. While "biglaw" writ large (say, amlaw 200 or so) cannot be fairly or accurately described as humane, it is nonetheless possible to find people and places who at least utilize a bit of professionalism.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated were frequently considered to engage in routine acts of unpleasant and unseemly behaviors, and to be possessed of egos considerably out of proportion to those merited, as well as inflated senses of self-importance. In a more common parlance, the gentlemen were engaged in random acts of douchebaggery, and were thus considered worthy to be the subjects of this web log posting. While this was considered amusing by those observing the selfsame weblog posting, the activities could not be ascribed any greater significance.

Legal Fraternity Lothario, his own self, attended a legal preparatory academy in the vicinity of Boston, and therefore is well acquainted with the type. Legal Fraternity Lothario does, however, wish to point out that a popped collar, while always stylish and sophisticated, is not necessarily a badge of douchebaggery.

The Legal Fraternity Lothario, his ownself, seconds post number 39, and declares The 80s Guy to be none less than the apotheosis of cool. Would that there were more gentlemen such as him in our legal preparatory academies.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, which in full disclosure is the selfsame institution as shown in heraldry at the left at the top of this weblog posting, were afflicted with the symptoms of douchebaggery in proportions not unlike those of gentlemen attending of other legal preparatory academies, but surely not in materially greater proportion. While much derision and scorn may properly be directed at the denizens of the Harvard Law School, Legal Fraternity Lothario found through his own experience -- admittedly more than a decade ago -- that the students of the aforementioned legal preparatory academy come from a relatively wide grouping of socioeconomic strata and circumstances, and thus that douchebaggery is not as pervasive as may commonly be believed in certain portions of the People's Republic of Cambridge. These are only the prolix musings of Legal Fraternity Lothario, his own self, and thus are not of material significance or consequence.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, which is, in fact, the legal preparatory academy identified by poster #67 herein, did in fact seek and obtain temporary positions of legal-related employment upon the completion of the first annum of their juris doctorate studies, in proportions such that virtually any such gentleman who sought employment by an entity of statutory creation, typically a limited liability partnership, the purpose of which was to engage in the practice of law, were able to procure such a position for their own selves. This was, however, in excess of a decade ago, and indeed times have changed. Those just initiating studies at their legal preparatory academies are best advised to seek unpaid internships in their home cities, and otherwise to cast the net broadly. Teats on the formerly nurturing and munificent bosom of Biglaw will be in short supply this time around.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated were in the habit of perusing fine literature, the nature of which was to set their etymological souls afire and otherwise to nourish their intellectual capabilities. The gentlemen were, therefore, most perplexed when confronted with the insidious and rancid utterances that were found herein, and displayed much consternation thereafter, such that some of the aforementioned gentlemen required medical treatments and other forms of healing. These occurrences were not viewed as of material significance, but those assembled averted their gazes from the publications the afflicted gentlemen had viewed, and sought to escape from their presence, as if they feared the onset of a loathsome disease.

Seriously, this was horrible.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated were, when the opportunities presented themselves, in the habit of utilizing libraries and other repositories of knowledge reduced into a preprinted paper form, not for the more ordinary purposes of learning and study, which are considered by most to be the best and highest uses of such institutions, but rather for the purpose of obtaining carnal knowledge of others. These events were viewed as unseemly by other gentlemen, who preferred to utilize the library in a more traditional manner, and therefore took it upon their own selves to promulgate placards and posters of warning directed the aforementioned gentlemen, where such placards attempted to express, in a certain level of detail, the modicum of opprobrium which those gentlemen felt with respect to the conduct they were compelled to observe. This was not considered to be of particularly material significance.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated were, when circumstances so warranted, prone to getting their p-funk down with Mr. Clinton and his nuclear canine. While those who bore witness to the aforementioned spectacle considered the occurrences to be rather gauche, and in some cases unseemly, for the most part it was not considered to be worthy of note, or otherwise inauspicious.

Gentlemen at the legal preparatory academy with which I was once affiliated, which is the selfsame institution mentioned in the posting to which this response is appended, were, in fact, NOT in the habit of obtaining carnal knowledge of attractive women, for indeed there were precious few persons meeting such a description to be found in the general vicinity of Langdell and its associated buildings. Gentlemen who claimed otherwise were possessed of a deplorable lack of standards and, as noted by a predecessor posting herein, condemned to eternal hellfire for so claiming. While the gentlemen were, as a result of the situation described here, somewhat frustrated, this was not considered to be particularly significant, particularly since the difficulties faced by the gentleman was representative of most legal preparatory academies.
