For those saying they "want more" from a job, but are currently working in a "Just below biglaw" (or something like that). You are perfectly positioned to do "something more", but for REAL. You are making sufficient funds to support yourself currently, and due to your reduced workload (compared to BIGLAW), you can go out and network, join professional societies, become active in the community, etc., to position yourself for partner, or even better from a personal fulfillment standpoint, do something noteworthy outside of the law. Keep your "day job"< but also become a leader in the volunteer community, become politically active, start a side business, write a book, etc.
Even assuming the absolute worst (i.e., they fired her because her pregnancy-related absences were bothersome), they will recover. First, if pressed on this issue, they will more likely be able to say-and prove- that the dismissal is tied to the soft economy, etc. - who would be able to question that. But regardless of whether her dismissal is due to anti-pregnancy discrimination, or merely the need to cut expenses (and subsequent lying that it was performance-related), they will recover the same way any firm recovers-- time and the reality of law firm recruiting. By next year, and certainly the year after, people will forget about this, and next year's first year law students are not even reading law blogs. Also, law students and lawyers need jobs, and there are only so many high-paying jobs to go around, so it is a simple issue of supply and demand, particularly when the unfortunate truth is, many large law firms have some "scandal" in their past, or at least a few partners (or more than a few) who can make your life a living hell.

to 11:43- you are mostly right, but I believe Obama may have won Illinois (where he currently serves). However, other than that, Hillary has essentially won every state that a Dem needs to win in the general election (CA, CT, MA, NY, NJ, OH, TX, PA, and the two states whose votes they are not counting - FL and Michigan). The states that voted for Obama over Hillary are generally states whose voters in the general election are just going to vote for whatever Republican candidate is available (who happens to be McCain).
