Jerry Sandusky Receives His Sentence -- What'll It Be?

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was sentenced today. How much prison time did he get?

Last night, on the eve of his sentencing hearing, Jerry Sandusky, Penn State’s former assistant football coach, released an audio recording from jail, and in it he continued to proclaim his innocence. This morning, it was up to the trial judge, Judge John Cleland, to dole out punishment for the man who had been found guilty on 45 of the 48 counts of child sex abuse against him.

So what did the judge decide? Let’s find out….

As expected, Sandusky will likely be spending the rest of his life in jail (assuming he loses any appeals). But the sentence is nowhere near the 400 years that he could’ve received. From NBC News:

Former Penn State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison Tuesday for abusing 10 boys he met over 15 years through his charity for troubled children.

According to ABC News, Sandusky spoke for about 13 minutes in court today. Among the many things he said, this sentence stuck out to us: “Somehow, someway, something good will come out of this.” It must be time for yet another 1-800-REALITY check, because the only good thing that’s going to come out of this is the fact that a known child predator will spend the rest of his days in jail.

What was your reaction to Sandusky’s sentence? Did he get enough time behind bars? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, and in our reader poll:
