Law School Dean Ready To Rain Down Fire And Brimstone Upon State Bar Over California Bar Exam Pass Rates

It's fair to say that this law school dean is pretty pissed.

It’s virtually unconscionable [to accept that] 30 percent of ABA-accredited graduates from California law schools are not minimally competent to practice law.

— Dean David Faigman of the UC Hastings College of Law, offering his thoughts on the results of the July 2017 California bar exam in an interview with The Recorder. This summer, the overall passage rate for those who completed the exam was 49.6 percent, while the overall passage rate for all test-takers was 49.19 percent. Faigman went on to say that he believes the state is on “a wayward path” as far as the high score required to pass the bar exam is concerned.
