Ice-T Arrested In Very Special Episode of Law & Order: Port Authority

EZ-Pass is how they get you.

Add “driving while black in the EZ-Pass lane when you don’t have an EZ-Pass, or license plates” to the list of things you can’t do.

Wait… that just might be on the list of things you can’t do, regardless of race.

From TMZ:

Ice-T blew through a bridge toll heading into New York City, and cops busted him for it … TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Ice was arrested by Port Authority police Wednesday morning for toll evasion as he was approaching the George Washington Bridge on the New Jersey side. We’re told he tried crossing in the E-ZPass lane … for drivers who prepay tolls with a transmitter, but Ice’s didn’t work.

Ice-T apparently didn’t realize that and continued driving his brand new McLaren sports car, but was quickly pulled over by cops.

Our sources say cops discovered the McLaren was not registered, so they arrested him for evading the toll and gave him a ticket for the unregistered vehicle. Not shockingly, the exotic car was spotted by passersby on the road.

Alright, let me defend my boy, Ice-T. I have also run afoul of the EZ-Pass Nazis. Ice-T claims he forgot his, I just didn’t know that there was no money in my account and auto-replenish had failed me.

EZ-Pass is outdated technology! You don’t know if it’s working or not, and the authorities don’t even need it in this damn surveillance state we live in. Every toll booth has the ability to just scan your license plate and send you a bill. Having to go through the rote of dealing with EZ-Pass is soooo last decade.

To arrest a man for going through the EZ-Pass lane without a working EZ-Pass is ludicrous. We could decrease the instances of police brutality immeasurably if we stopped empowering police to pull people over, or arrest them, for stupid crap like this. Ice-T could have been served with a huge ticket, as I was, through the mail. Then he could have paid or fought it out in traffic court. Either way, his life would have been safer if they just electronically ticketed him.

Except for the part where his car was unregistered. Like… that’s not a good look, brother. But everything else is BS. The cops should not be pulling people over for EZ-Pass violations. People can pay the fine without dealing with the goddamned police.
