Thai-Speaking Corporate Associate Needed in Hong Kong

Do you have 1-3 years of experience practicing at a major law firm and enough fluency in Thai to conduct business meetings with Thai companies? Contact us today.

Recently we have noticed an unmistakable trend of interest among clients who are in the manufacturing industry and anecdotally from law firm clients who represent these companies toward increased interest in Vietnam and Thailand as a sanction-free place to move work. This necessitates investment, and we are beginning to see an uptick in job opportunities for associates who speak Thai and Vietnamese.

Just recently, a law firm client who is a major force when it comes to law firm money-making confirmed this trend by asking us to locate a Thai-speaking associate for its Hong Kong office.  The ideal candidate should have 1-3 years of experience practicing at a major law firm and enough fluency in Thai to conduct business meetings with Thai companies.  Chinese language skills are not necessary.  A JD from a US law school or LLB from a UK law school is required.

This is a firm with an outstanding culture and a very strong presence in Asia, particularly Southeast Asia.  The need for Thai expertise is new and is based on the expectation of a stream of client mandates coming from there. The partner in charge for the role is a long-time client of our firm whom we know well because, well, we may have placed him in his job. The reason that Thai language skills are needed is something that can’t be published and needs to remain between us and any qualified candidates with whom we speak.  Suffice it to say that this opportunity is one of the strongest business cases for partnership at an Amlaw 20 firm we have ever seen for a Thai-speaking associate.
