New York Considers Removing Questions About Mental Health From Bar Exam Application

This is an important change that will eliminate a barrier to mental health treatment.

Time in law school is marked by extreme stress, anxiety, overwhelming expectations and financial uncertainty. Many students admit they are not seeking help because they are concerned that doing so will negatively impact their bar admission.

— New York State Bar Association President Henry Greenberg, announcing a call to action to determine if the state should remove questions about mental health disorders from applications for the bar. Other states have already removed such questions from their bar applications.
