Special Bonuses

Colleagues:

While the past year has been the most demanding for our Firm in recent history, I would like to thank each of you for the agility and resilience that you continue to display. This unprecedented time continues to bring out the best at every level of our Baker Botts team.

This period has uncovered the full measure of the Firm’s resilience, agility, creativity, determination and compassion. Despite the challenges we have encountered during the pandemic – and through the hard work of each of you – we continue to provide the highest level of support to our clients for their most complex matters.

In the spirit of your exemplary client service, we are pleased to announce that associates and special counsel in all offices globally will receive special bonuses as follows, payable within 45 days of the end of each measurement period, subject to the productivity and performance requirements set forth below:

To be eligible for these special bonuses, full-time associates and counsel must be in good standing, actively employed at the Firm on the date of payment, and on track to meet or exceed Firm client billable and bonus-eligible hours targets, subject to applicable Firm policies. Satisfaction of this productivity standard will be determined by annualizing hours for the first half of the 2021 annual bonus calculation period (December 1, 2020 through May 31, 2021) for the first payment and for the entire 2021 annual bonus calculation period (December 1, 2020 through November 30, 2021) for the second payment. In recognition of the variability of work and personal schedules over the course of the year, associates and counsel who did not meet the required hours threshold as of May 31, 2021 will have an opportunity to receive the full special bonus toward the end of the year (in addition to any annual bonus to which they may be entitled) by meeting or exceeding the Firm billable and bonus-eligible hours targets for the entire 2021 annual bonus calculation period. Consistent with our regular bonus practice, special bonuses will be pro-rated based on start date and alternative work arrangements.
