Unlike Most Law Firms, This One Is Offering Associates Milbank Money

Happy news!

hundreds money bonusesAs opposed to the Biglaw firms that continue to sit on their hands, boutique firms are really coming out to strut their stuff when it comes to the new associate compensation scheme in town. It looks like we’ve got another Milbank match on our hands. What a sight for sore eyes.

Last week, the Groom Law Group — a D.C. firm specializing in benefits, health, and retirement law — announced that it would be matching the new-and-improved associate salary scale. It’s been a while since our last match, so here’s what that looks like in case you’ve forgotten:

Groom Law Match Scale

Here’s what a source from the firm had to say about the raises:

I think associates expected the firm to match (the firm always matches top of the market for base salary & considers itself the preeminent law firm in benefits generally), but are happy with the increases, as our quality of life tends to be a little better than at bigger firms. The firm also has a 3% 401(k) match, so our effective base salary ends up being a little bit higher including the match.

The salary increase will be effective on March 1. Congratulations to all!
