Let's Crawl Down The Rabbit Hole Of Lin Wood's Violent Fantasies

He thinks it's a joke, but it isn't funny.

Sheesh, this is like a whole thing. I mean don’t you wonder what violent wishes disgraced lawyer Lin Wood not-so-secretly harbors against his former compatriots on the far right? Oh, you don’t? Oh well!

The Daily Beast reports on a couple of clips Wood posted to his 500K Telegram followers (though he admits he’s not the brain behind pulling them together) where he’s depicted gunning down a variety of right-wing enemies. Which… seems like the exact opposite thing a nation with a severe gun violence problem needs right now. But seems entirely on brand for Wood.

And if you’ve wondered how bad the rift’s gotten between Wood and his former conservative allies — wonder no more. He introduced the clips of him gunning down his now political rivals as “Hilarious!!!”

In the clips, Wood is cast as Clint Eastwood characters. And OF COURSE it’s the star known for his hyper masculine roles — and speaking to an empty chair at the 2012 Republican National Convention — that’s Wood’s avatar.

In the first clip, taken from Eastwood’s A Fistful of Dollars, Wood’s face is superimposed on the action star as he faces down an Old West rogue’s gallery that includes Lindell, Flynn, Senators Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham, and members of the election-fraud movement that Wood feels have wronged him in some way. In the clip, Wood’s character shoots them all dead.

In the other two videos, taken from films starring Eastwood as the vigilante hero Dirty Harry, Wood-as-Eastwood holds a gun on a criminal edited to look like Flynn. In one, Wood’s character threatens Flynn that he’ll “blow your head clean off.”

When asked about the violent videos, Wood played them off as a joke:

“They were memes,” Wood wrote in a text message to The Daily Beast. “Do you have a sense of humor?”

“I spend most of my time sharing Jesus Christ with others,” Wood added.

Again, not the best time for mass shooting related “humor.”

Wood’s downward spiral has been well-documented on social media. In December 2020 he took to Twitter to call Chief Justice John Roberts a pedophile murderer in league with Jeffrey Epstein, who also plotted Antonin Scalia’s “sudden death.” In 2021, he posted on Parler, “Get the firing squads ready. Pence goes FIRST.”  He then posted a warning to his followers to stay away from Target and Walmart,”Stop buying the food that they have been producing for years with fetal tissue parts to kill you!”

And then there are the bar complaints and lawsuits and interactions with disciplinary committees and sanctions motions… and actually, maybe these types of videos are exactly what we should expect.
