A great law school exam question would be ‘how many errors or problems can you find here?’

If a typical litigant raised these arguments, the judge would be very angry at the attorneys and I wouldn’t be surprised if [a] judge at least threatened imposing sanctions.

Since their client is the former president, a certain amount of deference will be shown to them in this circumstance. But it’s fair to say that all the lawyers involved should be embarrassed and it’s not clear to me why they thought it made sense for their careers to put their names on this document. I would not allow a junior lawyer under my supervision to do so.

Renato Mariotti, an attorney at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, commenting in an interview with the National Law Journal, on former President Donald Trump’s search warrant challenge. Referring to the filing as “unusual and bizarre,” Mariotti, a former federal prosecutor, said the suit was likely a public relations move on Trump’s part. “I’ve been on television multiple times since this was released, and at times, I sat there listening to hosts recite some of these assertions as if they had some weight on their own,” he said. “And so [Trump] achieved his purpose.”
