Our main objective was to create less stress for applicants. We constantly consider changes to the admissions process which could improve the experience for applicants, and the reasons for this change became more apparent over the last application cycle. In notifying prospective students of this change, we have sensed their relief in not having to make that difficult decision prior to applying.

Marisa Simon, director of admissions at the University of Notre Dame Law School, commenting in an interview with The Observer on the school’s decision to eliminate its early decision program for applicants. All prospective students will now be able to express their interest in attending Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s alma mater in the regular application’s “Why Notre Dame Law School?” statement.
