Lawyers Are Already Feeling The Pressure To Go Back To The Office

In-person pressure is real.

This is likely to be your last summer devoid of the actual, physical office. That is — if your firm hasn’t already opened up. But, it’s coming at us all fast. So the question remains, how are lawyers feeling about it all?

Datasite, a SaaS provider that powers M&A deals, recently conduct a survey to find out exactly how that whole life/work balance worked out for dealmakers during the pandemic. They surveyed over 230 dealmakers, including those at law firms, about returning to in-person work, work travel, and remote technologies.

One of the most surprising finding is that 60 percent of law firm dealmakers already feel the pressure to have in-person meetings, in service to business relationships. The unsurprising, but still disappointing, finding was that women experienced burnout 19 percent more than male counterparts. Other takeaways are that 25 percent of dealmakers plan to change their job this year, and that respondents expect to use technology in their deals in the future.
