Contracting Readiness for Your Legal Department: Why It’s Important and How to Get Started

Contracting Readiness’ roundtable set for June 5th – the first in a three-part series about how to wrangle contracting in your legal department.

Contracting is key in every legal department and can be a huge spend in terms of time, resources and funds. In this three-part series, industry leaders Monica Zent and Stephanie Corey will help you learn how to wrangle contracting in your legal department to drive greater efficiency and cost-savings.

Essential to project management is planning, that’s why the first program in the series will explore contracting readiness and identify best practices on building an efficient contracting program for your law department. This crucial phase of planning will help legal operations professionals and other legal department leaders to ensure that the effort of implementing an efficient contracting management process will be successful.

The Contracting Readiness program will be held on Wednesday, June 5th from 9am to 12noon, by Monica Zent and Stephanie Corey, along with media partners, Evolve the Law (ETL), Above the Law’s Legal Innovation Center, and hosted at venue sponsor, Logikcull’s headquarters in San Francisco.

The roundtable will be led by Monica Zent, founder of the innovative legal solutions provider ZentLaw. Zent is also founder of legal technology companies including LawDesk360. Stephanie Corey, co-founder of UpLevel Ops, a legal strategy and operations consulting firm, will guide the discussion as well. Corey also co-founded the Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC).

Open to ETL in-house members only and others by invitation, the roundtable will address key contracting readiness topics like evaluating your current contract lifecycle; setting a template strategy; and determining your contracting spend and achieving ROI.

“Contracting is a key function in law departments, yet it remains an area that is ripe for improvement and process overhaul,” said Zent. “Many legal departments attempt to improve contracting by throwing technology at the issue but that alone won’t help. There is a sequence to process refinement. Our goal is to provide attendees with best practices on how to embark on a contracting refinement effort.”

“We’re excited to be joined by a panel of legal tech experts who will help provide insights into how to streamline this important process,” said Corey. “With the right information and approach, a streamlined contracting process is within reach for every legal department. We look forward to the launch of what will be a highly informative series of events.”

The panel includes:

Part II of the series will cover process mapping plus tech selection, and Part III will feature the execution phase, tech implementation and evaluation.
