The Non-Event Industry Wrap-Up: February 2021

Clio

Clio has launched its fifth annual Reisman Awards, which recognize Clio customers making an impact in their community and redefining the legal industry. 

This year sees the introduction of the People’s Choice Award, which asks the public to vote for an outstanding legal service provider that delivers its services with an innovative approach.  

The awards recognize six categories: Law Firm Innovation, Best New Law Firm, Community Champion, Best Growth Story, Excellence in Client Service, and People’s Choice.

Also this month, Clio has partnered with the Black Professionals in Tech Network, an organization advancing opportunities for Black technical and business professionals in order to bridge the tech industry’s talent gap.

Together, Clio and BPTN will engage in an ongoing process of learning, discussion, and support, with a mutual commitment to fostering a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable future in North American tech.

Filevine

Filevine is running a $10,000 match donation campaign in support of The Equal Justice Initiative

Made famous by the bestselling book and movie “Just Mercy,” this important charity uses public education and the court systems to advance the cause of racial justice. 

Filevine will gladly match up to $10,000 of donations from anyone in the Filevine ecosystem. To donate visit eji.org/donate and list “Filevine” in the comments.

Foxit Software

Foxit Software has recently completed its Service Organization Controls 2 (SOC2) Type 1 examination through an independent audit. 

The SOC 2 certification indicates that Foxit’s processes, procedures and controls meet the highest industry standards for security, availability, process integrity and confidentiality. 

The SOC 2 examination was performed by an independent, third-party organization that evaluated Foxit’s security processes and internal control effectiveness for confidentiality, privacy, and integrity against the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant’s (AICPA) Security Trust Service Criteria. The audit found that Foxit met all industry standards. 

The company enlisted AARC-360 to perform the independent certification.

Matter365

Matter365 recently weighed in on agile practice management and the benefits of a distributed practice for law firms. 

These include access to more affordable talent thanks to location independence; increased efficiency with cloud-based legal practice management software; higher profitability thanks to little overhead; and increased staff retention because of work-life balance.

Moxtra recently weighed in on the role of security in digital strategy, discussing why it’s time to start thinking about digital resiliency.

In particular, the company looked at leveraging centralized one-stop customer portals to ease the burden on management and security.

MyCase, Inc., announced recently that Jim McGinnis has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer.

McGinnis most recently served as EVP/GM of Wolters Kluwer’s Tax and Accounting North America Professional Segment.
