US News Rank
What do these ratings mean?
The ATL School and Firm Insiders Survey asks self-identified current students, alumni, and practicing lawyers to rate major aspects of life at their law school (academics, social life, clinical training, career services, financial aid advising) and/or law firm (compensation, hours, morale, culture, training). We then translate these ratings into letter grades, where the mean score for each particular ratings category is the equivalent of a “B.”
We require a minimum threshold of responses for each institution before we publish any survey-based ratings content. Using a standard formula for statistical validity, we adhere to a threshold that gives us an 85% confidence level and a 10% margin of error. The precise threshold number will of course vary depending on the size of the individual institution. For example, for a law firm of 1,000 attorneys, we would require 50 responses in order to publish ratings for the firm.

Insider Reviews
from students and alumni of Elon University School of Law
I find I have high expectations for the professors and was pleased to find several well known and well respected professors teaching at Elon. Further, several technical classes were taught by adjuncts who were successful and helpful in connecting students with practioners in their areas. All in all I was pleased with the education I recieved at Elon. I believe Elon could use some help in the Career Services department. After being laid off at a firm I asked for help applying to a “non-traditional” law job. (NCAA Compliance Officer). The career services office gave me standard advice, “reviewed” my resume and sent me on my way. The email was something like “Oh, I don’t know how to get you a job in college athletics. Here’s a doc review gig we just posted on Symplicity. Good Luck.” Even if you don’t know how to get me a job in my chosen field at least PRETEND. Google it for pete’s sake.
Alumni
I enjoyed Elon’s law school as a university. It was the epitome of a small private law school. Having come from what a friend called a “snotty little east coast private school” for college, Elon was the perfect fit of law school for me. Most of my classmates got jobs in Greensboro, and the Greensboro bar was extremely helpful in offering jobs for the earlier classes. I don’t know how that job market is now, but in 2009/2010 most of my classmates were employed locally.
