Law Revue for life! That appears to be the mantra over at Jacobson & Rooks LLC, which posted this YouTube video parody of Lorde’s Royals all about filing Medicare/Medicaid fraud claims, and yes it makes exactly that much sense. Lorde, the 45-year-old New Zealand woman who claims to be 18, burst on the scene a couple of years ago picking up a pair of Grammys for her trouble. Her hit song inundated the Law Revue entries that year, thrilling the rest of the editorial staff with pitchy, atonal karaoke jobs, while I fumbled around the office for another bottle of Bourbon.
Anyway, Jacobson & Rooks want to convince whistleblowers to come forward, and what better way to do that than with a glossy music video? Here’s the full video and then we’ll break it down below:

The Hidden Threat: How Fake Identities used by Remote Employees Put Your Business at Risk—and How to Defend Against This
Based on our experience in recent client matters, we have seen an escalating threat posed by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) information technology (IT) workers engaging in sophisticated schemes to evade US and UN sanctions, steal intellectual property from US companies, and/or inject ransomware into company IT environments, in support of enhancing North Korea’s illicit weapons program.
00:15: “We don’t understand why they do it.” Spoiler alert, the next two minutes and 40 seconds will be dedicated to explaining exactly why they do it.
00:28: Now she’s floating by the New York skyline in glorious green screen. While you expect her to explain the weekend highs with this shot, she instead keeps on singing.
00:39: The first occurrence of the chorus that will rattle around your brain for hours after this is done:
They’re ripping off Medicare,
Medicaid,
False claims against the government.
Upcoding,
Unbundling,
Overbilling for a lab test.
They don’t care…
They’re getting rich beyond our dreams.

The Fifth-Year Dilemma: Do I Stay Or Do I Go (In-House)?
How to make the right decision, and why there might be another way to shape a fulfilling legal career on your own terms.
This may already be the greatest artistic work dedicated to health care fraud since the Fat Boys made Disorderlies.
00:51:
So much for “we don’t know why they do it.”
1:04: Cue the badass lawyer intro. Dramatic door opening reveal? Check. Slow motion? Check. Walking purposefully side-by-side? Check.
1:32: Blue filters show how serious they are. Between the green screen and the blue filter I’m thinking the cinematographer on this project just randomly mashed buttons on the camera.
2:24: What the hell happened? Suddenly she’s a paralegal dressed like a school marm?
2:36: This is the best take they could get out of Rooks? Check him out on the left side of the screen. He looks like this video is the most unnatural thing he’s ever done. Which it might well have been.
Anyway, we close up with the refrain:
We’ll be your lawyers! (Lawyers)
If you spot fraud,
That kind of work is just for us.
You should call us first,
‘Cause we are lawyers,
You can count on us.
And baby we’ll sue (we’ll sue, we’ll sue, we’ll sue).
Let us get your recovery.
Good job, Jacobson & Rooks. This is the kind of light-hearted stuff we need more of. Hey, maybe we should see if there’s any interest in a law firm Law Revue competition?
Where did I leave that bottle?
