Yesterday, we brought news that Ohio State University is trying to register a trademark in the word “the” because they spend so much of their time insisting that people call them THE Ohio State University. Is this stupid? Absolutely. Is this a frivolous waste of government resources? Totally. Is this entirely on brand for this school? Perhaps.
But no one was ever going to troll the OSU legal department like the school up North. The University of Michigan put out their own rival “trademark application.”
