Biglaw Associate Charged With Murdering Mom

Tragic news.

An associate in the New York office of McGuireWoods was arrested and charged with second degree murder last week. Andre Keels was in Virginia when police responded to a “mental health call” about a naked man yelling outside a house at around 9:30 in the morning.

Authorities found the naked attorney in the driver’s seat of a Hyundai SUV and say that his mother was run over by the vehicle in what was some sort of domestic dispute.

Keels graduated from Richmond Law after leaving his career as a sheriff’s deputy, clerking for Justice Stephen McCullough of the Virginia Supreme Court along the way.

Details are very preliminary at this point, but this is heartbreaking news especially with the strong indicia that Keels was unwell at the time of his mom’s death.
