A Conversation With Sports Agent Blog's Darren Heitner
It might be too many viewings of Jerry Maguire, but sports agents seem really cool.

I first read SportsAgentBlog.com when I was a 1L. Maybe it was one too many viewings of Jerry Maguire, but I really wanted to be a sports agent. The problem was that it was hard to find all those job listings. SAB had then, as it does now, a list of internship opportunities with all the big agencies and appropriate contact info. I was able to get several interviews from the site, although no job offers, including Darren’s agency at the time (where I was also turned down). Darren has since gone on to start his own practice where he focuses on sports and entertainment, write a book How to Play the Game: What Every Sports Attorney Needs to Know (affiliate link) as well as teach, write, and generally opine about the sports industry.
SportsAgentBlog.com is celebrating its ninth anniversary, so I thought it would be fun to get Darren on to talk about his career and how he used his blog to propel his career. I also intend to find out who he hired as an intern instead of me.
