Am Law 200 Firm Announces Employee Cuts, Citing 'Challenging Economic Environment'
Rightsizing strikes yet again.
Biglaw firms across the country are continuing to slim down for summer, as yet another one conducts a reduction in force.
The firm behind the latest round of layoffs is Eckert Seamans. After conducting a “strategic review of [its] resources and evaluation of [its] business services” — Eckert — which brought in $139,650,000 gross revenue in 2022, putting it at No. 187 in the most recent Am Law 200 ranking — announced earlier this week that it would be making firmwide cuts among its business professionals. In the memo announcing the reduction in force (available on the next page), the firm cited its “existing and forecasted demand” amid a “challenging economic environment” in its decision-making.
According to a firm spokesperson, no attorneys were affected by this reduction, and approximately 2% of business administrative professionals were impacted. Their last day with the firm was June 1.
