Partner Level Energy and Infrastructure

We have a number of clients looking for energy infrastructure partners in Houston (or Dallas). There is a variety here, and the best deal for one set of clients might not be the best for another. At this client we are close to some of the leaders of both the Texas offices and the international firm. The firm has a massive footprint, but has not be as strong as it should have been (yet) in its local recruiting for energy infrastructure. There is a strong appetite to add in this department, though, and for a partner with a particularly large practice (say, $30 million or better), there may be no better place to go. One candidate of ours with a book that size recently received an offer north of $12MM. [We could say how far north of $12MM if we are actually in having a conversation about this with a candidate, but we can't broadcast it.] The flipside is that other firms might be more suitable for more average ($6MM-$8MM) infrastructure practices, because this firm might not be the most generous in that range. NOTE: This posting is as much for general information about the market as it is for any other purpose, because partners with this sort of practice (in our experience) have neither the time nor the inclination to look at jobs on our website. That said, if a more junior attorney hopes/intends to grow into this sort of partner, we would be glad to get to know her/him sooner rather than later.
