Missing UNLV Professor Says: 'I did not just disappear.'

Yesterday, we told you about the strange case of the UNLV Constitutional Law professor who went “missing,” causing all of her students to receive a grade of “pass” in her 1L course. Some students argued that the change in the grading system disadvantaged students that were hoping to make it onto the law review.
The Nevada Law blog, Wild Wild Law, identified the professor as Lynne Henderson. According to the blog, Professor Henderson was not completely incommunicado:

[T]he missing professor, who has been identified as Professor Henderson, has emailed to congratulate the students who made it onto law review.

Above the Law corresponded with Professor Henderson about her situation. Sadly, she said that health issues prevented her from completing all of the grading for her course. But she also said that she did not just go missing. She said she informed the appropriate people at UNLV Boyd School of Law about the issue.
Check out the full response from Professor Henderson, after the jump.

Professor Lynne Henderson explained to Above the Law that she did not abandon her students. Here is her response:

I can confirm that I was in very poor physical health. I can confirm that I was working on the exams. I can confirm that I endeavored to tell the proper persons at the law school that I would not have the grades in in timely fashion, but apparently there were breakdowns in communication. I can confirm that I did not just “disappear.”

We wish professor Henderson the best of luck with her health issues.
Meanwhile, the focus now moves to the Boyd School of Law administration and its dean, John Valery White. If the school knew that a professor for an important 1L course was ill, then couldn’t the dean communicate with students in a more timely manner? Perhaps the school could have come up with some solution other than a straight “pass” for all of Henderson’s ConLaw students.
We’ll keep you posted as more information comes to light.
