An Update on Eliot Spitzer

So what is Eliot Spitzer, former attorney general (and governor) of this great state of New York, up to these days?

Spitzer is not the type to be idle for long. After all, he’s famed for his stamina. Could he possibly run for office again?

As it turns out, it seems that the man formerly known as Client No. 9 is seeking elective office….

Spitzer, a 1984 graduate of Harvard Law School, is seeking election to the membership of the Harvard Club of New York. Check out page 30 of the April 2010 issue of the HCNY Bulletin, listing candidates to be considered by the prestigious club’s admission committee, and soliciting current members’ views on them:

We say: c’mon, Harvard Club, let Spitzer in. You’ve already had Ivan Boesky as a member — and Boesky, unlike Spitzer, was actually convicted of something.

One caveat, though: you might want to restrict Spitzer’s access to your overnight accommodations. Or at least use extra bleach on those sheets after he checks out.

A second notable name on the list of HCNY admission candidates (and apparently a classmate of Spitzer at HLS): high-powered intellectual property litigatrix Dale Cendali, formerly at O’Melveny & Myers but now at Kirkland & Ellis (a move we covered here). We’re guessing she won’t have a problem winning admission (unless disgruntled ex-colleagues from O’Melveny try to blackball her).

These candidates were considered by the committee on April 5, with elections to “be confirmed 10 days from the date this bulletin is mailed if no member comments are received.” Does anyone know if Spitzer — and Cendali, although that’s less suspenseful — won admission? If so, please let us know.
