Full disclosure: if it were up to me, Bobby Donnell would win the whole freaking contest. And I’d look like a black Dylan McDermott. Bobby Donnell is my favorite television lawyer by far, The Practice is the best and most underrated legal drama of all time, and it physically pains me that more people watched Boston Legal — the stupid, Biglaw-esque spinoff of The Practice — instead of the gritty original. To use a closing argument from the show, this is America, and in the America I grew up in, The Practice would be recognized for its brilliance.
And then there’s Ally McBeal. That show was also created by Practice creator David E. Kelley. It was also based in Boston. There was even I think one episode where the Ally McBeal characters showed up in character on the Practice or something, but I don’t know if I’m remembering a real thing or a freakish nightmare.
Allegedly, Ally McBeal also spoke to how it was to be a professional working woman in today’s crazy world. If that’s true, I feel really sorry for all the ladies out there.
