With the departure of Jay Shepherd, I am now (at least temporarily) filling the role of small firm chica (Val) and small firm expert (Jay). Let me tell you, it is exhausting.
So, I am going to do what any smart, small-firm partner would do in this situation, and I am going to delegate. And, by delegate, I mean push the work off on you.
I have a few new features that I would like to unveil (and I swear, it will be better than the new Facebook)…
Schenck Price Competes Smarter With Lexis+ With Protégé
LexisNexis sat down with John Ursin, Managing Partner at Schenck Price, to learn how the firm is using legal AI to strengthen client service and daily legal work.
First, I am asking all small-firm subject matter experts to contact me to take part in Ask An Expert. This will be a 500-word CLE for us laymen.
Second, I would like to feature pro bono opportunities that require small-firm assistance and spotlight pro bono initiatives at small firms.
Third, I would like to hear stories about small-firm dish — office romances, boozy office parties, et cetera (off the record of course).
AI Is Reshaping Legal Practice—But Tools Aren’t The Real Differentiator.
Explore the mindset, cultural shifts, and training strategies that define the AI‑savvy lawyer, revealing why human judgment, standardized competence, and integrated learning—not technology alone—will shape the future of the profession.
Fourth, I want to hear your Adventures in Small Firm Marketing. Surely someone has done something innovative or disastrous, and I would love to hear about it.
Lastly, I do not share Jay’s fondness for punctuation, so I invite all small-firm grammar geeks and style experts to provide tips. I fear that if I am forced to write about periods, the column will read more like a Judy Blume book than a helpful style guide.
So, in the spirit of the new television season, I present the new Size Matters season. I’m looking forward to our collaborations. And, depending on the response, maybe we can work together to do something really meaningful. Can you say Small Firm Hotties Calendar?!
