Lawyerly Lairs: A Cadwalader Castle in the Sky

Partners at high-powered Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where profits per partner in 2010 clocked in at almost $2.4 million, appreciate the finer things in life. Thankfully there are some CWT partners who are kicking it old school. They live in exclusive prewar coops on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Let's look at the Lawyerly Lair that a senior Cadwalader lawyer recently acquired -- on Park Avenue, one of the world's legendary thoroughfares -- for just a shade under $6 million....

We’ll start the tour in the living room, with its wood-burning fireplace. It gets great light, through what the listing describes as “oversized solarium windows looking onto the terrace.”

Props to the interior decorator who created this tasteful space (which Jonathan Wainwright, who’s the buyer rather than the seller, can’t take credit for). It is much more visually appealing than the $4.6 million apartment, located just up the street at 1185 Park Avenue, that was recently sold by Cravath partner Stephen Madsen.

Now let us adjourn to the dining room….
